Jeff Quirin: Report: Jaden Schwartz To Leave Colorado College A report from the Colorado College men's hockey team beat writer from the Colorado Springs Gazette indicates Blues prospect Jaden Schwartz will leave the school and sign a pro contract.

That is great for the Blues. Jaden Schwartz looked great at the world juniors from my perspective and from what I saw. I think he will add a good amount of talent to an already talented St. Louis squad. I was wondering when he would come down from college and now that he has, I predict that he will play quite well in the coming years.

That seems a lot for the AHL, I guess good for the kid if he can get it.

Kind of surprised they signed him to his ELC. Was expecting them to sign him to an ATO and have him play in Peoria.

I would think this means he will play with the Blues the remainder of the season. Still think this means it is not looking so great for Steen coming back.

Jeff: I wish that you would string multiple days' stories together to maintain the conversation history. When you post daily, it makes it difficult to keep a conversation going. Isn't there a way that you can do an update to a story?

There's certainly been no encouraging news about Steen.

I have a hard time putting together a guy coming out of an American college and jumping into the NHL in the midst of a playoff push.

Can anybody ever recall a player successfully making this jump and providing an immediate impact?

I don't know if this would pertain to Jake Gardiner, he did first play like 6 games in the AHL, but next year he made an immediate impact for the Leafs and became a great offensive puck moving defenseman.... but I think it is possible that Schwartz could make a very good impact on the Blues and their playoff hopes.

Can someone please explain to me what all the comotion is about Schwartz? Is he that good, or are people just blowing smoke about him because he played well in the WJC?

We'll all know in about four years.......


Like any other prospect, no one can ever really say until he plays in the NHL. He's a guy the Blues were excited about drafting and he's had two really tremendous seasons at the college level.

Blues brass think that he's NHL ready which is really saying something because they don't rush guys. (Remember, this is the organzation that sent Alex Pietrangelo back to juniors twice when they easily could have played him on a regular basis here).

I'm really hoping to c him play against Chicago I know that's rushing him in but hey what a test it would be for him because of the intensity and speed this game will have.
